ADVANTAGES OF KIDS' TURN OVER OTHER DIVORCE PROGRAMS

The Kids' Turn workshop offers much more to parents than programs which are shorter. It deals not only with the basics of how do best support the child, but includes activities families can incorporate to better their communication with each other and their lives in general. Parents are encouraged to refocus their attention on their children; they are taught better ways to communicate with each other for the sake of the children; they gained in understanding of how negative feelings for the other parent can be harmful to their children. Children are given an opportunity to express their feelings about divorce, to gain a better understanding about the divorce and the judicial process, and to open the lines of communication with their parents regarding the divorce. They also learn how to remove themselves from their parents arguments, and to say, "no" to being a messenger between the parents.
