The divorce rate in this country is nearing fifty percent of all marriages. Tens of thousands of kids every year are subjected to the difficulties of parental divorce. Studies have shown these kids are more prone to having difficulties at home, in school, with higher percentages of involvement drugs, gangs and early pregnancy. Children of divorce are more likely to drop out of school and to have problems with employment and personal relationships as adults.

Many states are now mandating parent education programs for divorcing families. These are often quite short, offer only the very basic information, and do not offer any services for the children.
